I envisioned this character as an exotic and erudite world traveler. Even though everyone calls him an Indian he’s not. His facial features are actually based on an Iryan Jaya tribesman. The decorations, scarring, and tattoos are inspired by different African cultures.

I wasn’t really going for photo-realism although I tried to make the character believable. Mostly, I wanted a character who was unique and could, just by sight, fire up the imagination. I like his expression because his mouth naturally forms a slight smile even though it’s not easy to tell if he is actually intending a smile. I like that kind of ambiguity in artwork, it lets the viewer draw conclusions.
